Retail Back Office: Products/Items - Discounts (Item-Based)
Navigation: Log into the Back Office of your Retail Store, then select Products/Items > Discounts.
On the Discounts page, select the Item Based tab. It displays a table with the current Item-Based Discounts with the columns Name, whether it has a Coupon, whether it's an Auto Discount, and the Discount Type. For Actions, you can Edit or Delete.
If there currently are no Item-BasedDiscounts, the message'No Discounts found' appears.
Create (or Edit) an Item-Based Discount
Click the + New Discount button at the upper-right. The Item Based screen appears.
To Edit an existing Discount: under the Actions column click the corresponding pencil icon.
POS Display Button
You can set a POS Display Button for the Item Based Discount to appear as in POS, although it is not mandatory. You have multiple options for setting a Display Button:
Standard Color
Click the small colorized square (next to the larger colorized square).
Select the color by using the 2 sliders.
Upload New Image
Click the icon of the document with the upwards facing arrow. A File Explorer pop-up window appears.
Navigate to where your Display Button image is saved, then select the file and click Open or just double-click it.
File Format – JPG or PNG
File Size – Maximum of 2 MB
Resolution – Recommended 400px by 400px
Enter the Name. It its mandatory and cannot be longer than 25 characters.
Select the Priority order which is also mandatory. You can enter the number or use the triangles to adjust the value. The value cannot be less than 0 or greater than 999.
Select the Quantity of the Item that will trigger the Discount (mandatory). You can enter the number or use the triangles to adjust the value.
Select how to Apply the Discount (mandatory): Before Tax or After Tax.
For the Combine With Other Discount toggle: if enabled (YES), this Discount can be combined with another existing Discount within a single transaction.
For the Apply For Discounted Price toggle: if enabled (YES), this Discount will be applied to the amount and whether this applied discount is calculated before or after discounted price. If disabled (NO), it won't be.
Under Level, select the Type:
Category - Select the Categor(ies) from the dropdown that this Discount will apply to.
Subcategory - Select the Subcategor(ies) from the dropdown that this Discount will apply to.
Retail Item - Select the Retail Item(s) from the dropdown that this Discount will apply to.
Select the Type of Discount: Promo, Comp, Donation, or Loyalty Discount.
For Discount Settings, the available toggles will be based on the Type selection:
Employee Discount - If enabled (YES), only the employees will be eligible for the discount. All other below Discount Settings options will be removed.
Coupon Only - If enabled (YES), enter the Coupon Code needed to apply the Discount (only letters or numbers are allowed).
Auto Discount - If enabled (YES), the Discount will automatically applied once an eligible Item is added to the Order.
Attach Customer - If enabled (YES), the Discount can be applied only when a Customer is attached to the Order (if Loyalty was selected, it will be auto-set to YES). When enabled, users will be able to attach Customers in POS to enable this Item-Based Discount.
For the Discount Rate, the discount will be applied based on the selection:
Percentage: If selected, enter the Receipt Total threshold to trigger the discount and the Percentage to be discounted (up to 2 decimal places). The entered amounts will appear in the offer header.
Amount: When selected, enter the Amount to be discounted when an eligible item is added during the transaction during the transaction.
Set Price: A type of discount where a specific amount is set as the discounted price from the Total Price.
Example: If the Set Price is configured as 5 in the Back Office (BO), and the Retail item price is 20: the Retail item amount will be subtracted (20.00-5.00 = 15.00) and the Discount will be calculated:
Retail Item Price: 20
Discount Applied: 15
Final Price: 5 (as per the Set Price configuration)
Free Item: When selected, the Discount will be the amount of the qualifying Item. Click + Add Free Item, then select the Item, Quantity for the Price to be discounted.
Select the Availability:
Always - If selected, this Item Based Discount will be available during all days and times.
Days of Week
If Days of Week is selected:
Select Days - Select the Day(s) the Discount will be available in POS (you can select more than one day).
Restriction Time / Available Time - Both Available Time and Restriction Time can be set here by enabling the toggles (setting to YES).
Set the Restriction Time by selecting the Start and End Times (clock view) then click OK.
For an Available Time, set the Start and End Times for the Discount to be available in the POS (clock view).
You can Add an AvailableTime period by clicking + Add New Time and a new time period row appears to select another Start and End Times.
Note: A Time cannot fall under both Restriction and Available (there cannot be overlap between the Restriction Time and an Available Time).
Days Of Month
If Days of Month is selected:
Select the appropriate Dates.
If you enable the Available Months (set the toggle to YES), select the Months the Discount will appear in POS.
Restriction Time / Available Time - Both Available Time and Restriction Time can be set here by enabling the toggles (setting to YES).
Set the Restriction Time by selecting the Start and End Times (clock view) then click OK.
For an Available Time, set the Start and End Times for the Discount to appear in the POS (clock view).
You can Add an AvailableTime period by clicking + Add New Time and a new time period row appears to select another Start and End Times. Note: A Time cannot fall under both Restriction and Available (there cannot be overlap between the Restriction Time and an Available Time).
Date Range
If Date Range is selected:
Select the Start and End Dates (calendar view).
Restriction Days / Available Days - Both Available Days and Restriction Days can be set here by enabling the toggles (setting to YES).
Restriction Time / Available Time - Both Available Time and Restriction Time can be set here by enabling the toggles (setting to YES).
Set the Restriction Time by selecting the Start and End Times (clock view) then click OK.
For an Available Time, set the Start and End Times for the Discount to appear in the POS (clock view).

Specific Date
If Specific Date is selected, select the single Date the Discount will be available in POS (calendar view).

Set the Restriction Time by selecting the Start and End Times (clock view) then click OK.
For an Available Time, set the Start and End Times for the Discount to appear in the POS (clock view).

Date Range with Time
If Date Range with Time is selected:
Select the Start and End Dates (calendar view).
Restriction Time / Available Time - Both Available Time and Restriction Time can be set here.
For an Available Time, set the Start and End Times for the Retail Item to appear in the POS (clock view).
You can Add an AvailableTime period by clicking + Add New Time and a new row appears to select another Start and End Times.
Set the Restriction Time by enabling the toggle, then selecting the Start and End Times (clock view) then click OK. Note: A Time cannot fall under both Restriction and Available (there cannot be overlap between the Restriction Time and an Available Time).
Under Visibility: the Restrict POS Visibility by User Role toggle will be disabled (NO) by default and the Discount will be available to all Roles. If enabled (YES), you must select the Role(s) that will be able to apply the Discount to a transaction. Selecting a Role causes the button to turn pink.
If at least 1 Role isn't selected, the message Please select at least one role appears.
When ready to create (or update) the Item-Based Discount, click Save and Publish (or Update). You will be returned to the main Discounts screen under the Item Based tab.
