POS: Bar Tab - New Tab



This option is to create a new Check for the Bar Tab service type. When you tap on the New Tab option, the Order screen appears.


Pre Auth

  1. If the Pre-Auth setting is enabled in the Back Office (Settings > General Settings): upon starting a new Bar Tab order, a Pre-Auth pop-up will be displayed. The pre auth will check the customer's card for the Pre-Auth amount listed on the pop-up. You may see a Pending Charge for the Pre-Auth amount on their Account.

    1. Amount Field - The default amount will show (this can be adjusted on the pre auth setting in the back office). The user can select the amount field and change the pre auth amount.
    2. Pre Auth - Select the Pre Auth button to change the Amount back to the Default Amount.
    3. Exit - If the customer is not starting a tab with a credit card on file, you can select Exit and continue with the Order.
    4. Process - To preauthorize a Credit Card for the Order, click Process. When the screen shows Present Card you can tap, insert or swipe the card on the card reader. The card info will save to the Payment screen for final authorization when the customer is ready to close their tab. The card read will also change the quick name on the order to match the name on the credit card.

  2. Select Process. The Payment screen appears for completing the Payment process. After processing the pre-auth card, the Order screen appears.

  3. After completing the Payment process, you can create a Sale on the Order screen.

  4. After completing the Sale, you are returned to the Bar Tab screen.
    1. If Pre-Auth is not enabled, the Order screen appears.

  1. Note: Reading the name on the Credit Card varies by card. Not all cards allow for this info to be accessible in a card read and may show as '[Card Type] Card Holder'. You can tap on the Quick Name on the Order then change the Name on the Order.

  2. After processing the pre-auth card, the Order screen appears.
