Back Office
Application Settings
Navigation: Log in BO, select a Store, then select Settings > Application > General Settings
On the General Settings page: the Enable Age Restriction toggle appears. If the toggle is enabled (set to YES), the following fields will appear:
Tool Tip – Age verification for specific menu categories, sub categories, or menu items
- Minimum Age Limit - Enter a required Minimum Age (years), when it's required for the Customer to enter their age in years.
- Tool Tip – Set minimum age restriction in years
- The maximum age to be set in the field is 100
- Age Alert Message - Enter the alert Message to appear if the Customer's entered Age in Years is not greater than the Minimum Age Limit.
- Default message for this field - The DOB condition is not met; the item will be deleted from the cart. The message can be updated as per your Store's requirements.
Tool Tip - This message will be displayed in POS when age entered doesn't meet the minimum age limit.
- It should not be more than 80 characters on the text field.
- When the Customer tries to add item from an Age Restricted Category to the Cart, their Date Of Birth will be requested in POS prior to the sale.
- The default Date format in Application Settings to be followed while adding the customer's age – DD/MM/YYYY
- DD - Day
- MM - Month
- YYYY - Year
- When the Customer enters their Age (Date of Birth) then selects Confirm, the system will calculate the Customer's Age vs Current Date.
If the Customer is older than the Restricted Age (set in Back Office), then the item will be added to the Cart. Upon clicking Confirm, a green check mark will appear next to the entered DOB
- Example: When a customer tries to buy alcohol and their age is 19 while the Restricted Age in BO 18, then the alcohol will be sold to the customer.
When an underage customer tries to buy a restricted item: upon typing the DOB and selecting Confirm, the pop-up alert message 'The DOB condition is not met, the item will be deleted from cart' set in the BO will appear. Upon clicking Confirm again, the respective Item will be deleted from the Cart and moved to Void.
- The item being deleted from the Sale due to the Age Restriction will appear in the Void report.
- If a Menu Item is connected to a Modifier and the Serving Size falls under the Age-Restricted Category. Upon successful validation of the Customer, the Sale will move forward by allowing the customer to choose the Modifier and Serving Size.
- Upon unsuccessful validation the Menu Item will be sent to Void and the system will close the window. You will not be allowed to choose the Modifier.
- Only the Menu Item will appear on the Void report (not the respective Modifiers and Serving Sizes).
- Note: In case if the selected Menu Item is attached to a Serving Size that falls in the Age-Restricted Category – the age validation will happen after selecting the Serving Size.
- Note: For a particular Check the age validation should happen only once.
Example: When a customer tries to buy 2 alcohol items and cigarettes - the Sale is being conducted for alcohol and the system will validate the Age requirement for the respective customer and once its approved, it won't also ask for verification for the sale of cigarettes.
- Note: Upon clicking Cancel, before clicking the DOB the item will be deleted from the Check.
- The pop-up alert message that appears will be dynamic, based on the set Age in BO Settings that appears in the message.
- Example: Under General Application Settings, if the customer has chosen 21 as Age Restricted field, then the pop-up message will display 21 as the Restricted Age.
- Upon clicking Cancel and reopening the date picker, the previously entered data should be populated on the screen.
- Upon passing the age validation in the parent Check, the validation need not happen for the subsequent checks (Split, merge and transfer check) add inherit or child checks.
- Age validation doesn't apply to Special Combo Menu Items, Loyalty Discounts and Combo Discounts.
